NLC India (formerly Neyveli Lignite Corporation) is a government-owned integrated mining and power company operating large lignite mines at Neyveli (Tamil Nadu) and Barsingsar (Rajasthan), a coal mine in Odisha (Talabira), and pithead thermal power stations fuelled by its own lignite/coal. It has a sizeable and growing renewables portfolio (solar and wind) and new thermal JVs (including NTPL and projects supplying Tamil Nadu and other states). Regulated cost-plus tariffs on mining-plus-generation drive stable earnings, with capacity addition the growth lever.
It is India's premier lignite miner and a mid-sized public-sector power generator.
