SJVN (originally Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam) is a central public-sector power generator whose core assets are large hydroelectric stations — the 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri and 412 MW Rampur projects in Himachal Pradesh — supplemented by a growing pipeline of solar, wind and additional hydro projects being built directly and through SJVN Green Energy. Revenue comes from regulated tariffs on hydro generation and increasingly from renewable capacity commissioning; it also has power transmission and trading interests.
It is one of India's principal hydro-power PSUs after NHPC.
