Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL), a subsidiary of ONGC, operates a ~15 MMTPA refinery at Mangalore producing petrol, diesel, ATF, LPG and other fuels, plus an aromatics/petrochemical complex (via the merged OMPL) producing paraxylene and benzene. Earnings are driven almost entirely by gross refining margins and refinery throughput, making the stock highly cyclical to crack spreads and crude differentials. It also runs a modest but growing direct fuel retail outlet network.
It is one of India's more complex standalone refiners and operates under the ONGC group.
