What CESC does

CESC, the RP-Sanjiv Goenka group's power utility, is an integrated electricity generator and distributor whose core is the licensed distribution of power to Kolkata and Howrah, backed by its own thermal capacity (Budge Budge and others). It also runs distribution franchises/licences in Rajasthan (Kota, Bharatpur, Bikaner), Malegaon and Noida (via Noida Power), and is investing in renewables and green hydrogen ambitions through subsidiaries. Regulated-return distribution in Kolkata provides stable cash flow; franchise turnarounds and renewable capex drive incremental value.

One of India's few private integrated power utilities, with the Kolkata licence area as its cash cow.
