Tata Steel is one of the world's major steel producers, with large integrated operations in India (Jamshedpur, Kalinganagar, Neelachal and Meramandali) backed by captive iron ore, and European operations comprising the IJmuiden plant in the Netherlands and UK operations at Port Talbot, which are transitioning from blast furnaces to electric-arc-furnace steelmaking with UK government support. India drives profitability with structurally better margins, while Europe has been a periodic drag. Products span flat and long steel for autos, construction, packaging and engineering, with brands like Tata Tiscon and Tata Steelium.
It is among the top global steelmakers by capacity and one of India's two largest steel producers.
