What SBI Cards and Payment Services does

SBI Cards and Payment Services is India's only listed pure-play credit card issuer, promoted by State Bank of India. It earns interest income on revolving card balances and EMI loans, plus fee income from interchange, annual/late fees and co-brand partnerships (with airlines, retailers and e-commerce players); SBI's branch network is a key customer-acquisition channel. Profitability hinges on revolver share, credit costs and interchange regulation.

It is India's second-largest credit card issuer by cards-in-force after HDFC Bank.
