Power Finance Corporation is India's largest power-sector NBFC, a government-owned infrastructure finance company lending to generation, transmission, distribution and increasingly renewable energy and infrastructure projects, largely to state utilities and discoms. It is the holding company of REC, its listed subsidiary with a similar mandate. Earnings are driven by loan book growth (renewables and discom reform schemes like RDSS/late payment surcharge loans), spreads on low-cost borrowings, and asset-quality resolution of legacy private thermal exposures.
It is India's largest power-sector lender and among the country's biggest NBFCs by balance sheet, consolidated with REC.
