Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) is India's dominant defence-PSU aircraft maker: it designs and manufactures fighter jets (Tejas LCA, licence-built Su-30MKI), helicopters (Dhruv ALH, Light Combat Helicopter Prachand, Light Utility Helicopter), trainer aircraft, aero engines and avionics. A very large share of revenue comes from the Indian Air Force and Army via manufacturing contracts and a substantial repair-and-overhaul (MRO) annuity. Its multi-decade order book spans Tejas Mk1A, engines and helicopter programmes.
India's largest defence PSU and a near-monopoly military aircraft manufacturer.
