Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals operates two broad businesses: industrial chemicals — where it is India's leading maker of technical ammonium nitrate (TAN) for mining explosives, plus nitric acid and isopropyl alcohol (IPA) — and crop nutrition, selling complex fertilisers and bentonite sulphur under the Mahadhan brand. It has backward-integrated with a large ammonia plant (through subsidiary PMAL) to secure its key feedstock. Earnings are driven by TAN demand from coal/infra mining, nitric acid spreads and fertiliser seasonality.
It is India's largest manufacturer of technical ammonium nitrate and a leading nitric acid producer.
