What CreditAccess Grameen does

CreditAccess Grameen is India's largest NBFC-microfinance institution, lending small-ticket, joint-liability group loans to low-income women borrowers in rural areas, with deep district-level penetration in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu and expansion into newer states. It is majority-owned by CreditAccess India (an Amsterdam-based holding company). Earnings are driven by loan growth, high yields typical of microfinance and the credit-cost cycle, which is sensitive to rural stress and event risks.

It is the largest NBFC-MFI in India by gross loan portfolio.
