What Canara Bank does

Canara Bank is a large Bengaluru-headquartered public sector bank (merged with Syndicate Bank in 2020) offering retail, agriculture, MSME and corporate banking nationwide, with subsidiaries in asset management (Canara Robeco AMC), life insurance (Canara HSBC Life) and home finance (Can Fin Homes as an associate). It has pursued value unlocking by listing subsidiaries; core earnings depend on margins, recoveries and RAM-book growth.

One of India's four largest public sector banks by assets.

Financial ratios, as filed

Consolidated annual figures taken from Canara Bank's own filed statements — not estimates, and not restated by us. The most recent period shown is FY26 (year ended 31 Mar 2026).

Per-share figures are not restated. Shares outstanding changed from 181.41 crore to 907.07 crore in FY25, consistent with a bonus issue or stock split. Each year's EPS and book value below are as that year was filed, on that year's share count — so the per-share line falls across FY25 even where profit did not. Compare the absolute figures (EBITDA, free cash flow, total debt) and the margins across that boundary, not the per-share ones.
