What Avenue Supermarts does

Avenue Supermarts operates DMart, India's most profitable large-format grocery retail chain, following an everyday-low-price model concentrated in food, FMCG and general merchandise/apparel. Unlike peers it largely owns its store real estate, keeping rental costs minimal, and expands in a measured cluster-based fashion; DMart Ready provides e-commerce/pickup in select cities. Revenue is driven by new store additions and throughput per store, with thin gross margins offset by industry-leading cost ratios; founded by investor Radhakishan Damani.

It is India's largest listed food-and-grocery retailer by profit and among the most valuable retailers in the country.
