Shipping Corporation of India is a government-owned shipping line operating a diversified fleet of crude and product tankers, dry bulk carriers, container vessels and offshore supply vessels. Revenue comes from freight and charter earnings across these segments, with tankers historically the largest contributor; it also manages vessels for third parties including government agencies. The company has been on the government's strategic disinvestment list for several years, with its non-core assets demerged into SCI Land and Assets Ltd to facilitate the sale.
It is India's largest ocean-going shipping company by fleet capacity among domestic owners.
