What Life Insurance Corporation of India does

Life Insurance Corporation of India is the state-owned life insurer selling participating and non-participating savings, protection, annuity and ULIP products, distributed overwhelmingly through the country's largest tied-agency force. It manages one of India's biggest investment portfolios, making it a systemically important holder of Indian equities and government bonds. Listed in May 2022; the government remains the dominant shareholder. Strategy focus is raising non-par share to improve value of new business margins.

India's largest life insurer by a wide margin, with roughly three-fifths or more of first-year premium market share.
