MSTC is a government-owned e-commerce and trading company whose core business is operating e-auction and e-procurement platforms for scrap, minerals, coal linkages, spectrum-adjacent government sales and asset disposals on behalf of central/state governments and PSUs. It has transitioned from working-capital-heavy trading of bulk raw materials to an asset-light service model earning commissions on gross merchandise value auctioned. It also promoted a ship-recycling/steel-scrap JV with Mahindra (Mahindra MSTC Recycling).
