E.I.D. Parry (India), the Murugappa group's oldest business, operates sugar mills in South India with integrated distilleries producing ethanol for the blending programme, plus a nutraceuticals business (microalgae-based products such as spirulina and astaxanthin). Its largest source of value, however, is its majority stake (around 56%) in Coromandel International, the fertiliser and crop-protection major, making EID Parry part holding company, part sugar operator. Earnings swing with sugar and ethanol realisations layered over Coromandel's consolidated contribution; it is also scaling a consumer staples push in branded sweeteners and grains.
It is among South India's largest sugar producers and effectively the listed holding vehicle for Coromandel International.
