Cochin Shipyard is a state-owned shipbuilder and ship-repair yard at Kochi, best known for building INS Vikrant, India's first indigenous aircraft carrier. It constructs defence vessels (including next-generation missile vessels and anti-submarine warfare craft) and commercial ships such as dredgers, tugs and green/hybrid ferries for domestic and European clients. Ship repair, including defence refits and a dedicated international ship repair facility, is a steady second revenue stream, and earnings visibility comes from a large defence order book.
It is India's largest public-sector shipyard by capacity and among the most profitable, alongside defence peers Mazagon Dock and GRSE.
Cochin Shipyard Ltd. is a constituent of NIFTY 200, NIFTY 500, NIFTY MIDCAP 100, NIFTY MIDCAP 150. See where it sits on the market heatmap →
