What Bharat Heavy Electricals does

BHEL is India's largest power-generation equipment manufacturer, supplying boilers, turbines and generators for thermal (coal), gas, hydro and nuclear plants, along with transmission equipment, transportation products (locomotive propulsion, Vande Bharat consortium), and defence items. Its fortunes revived with the return of coal-fired capacity ordering under the government's thermal expansion push, giving it a record order book, though execution margins on legacy EPC projects remain the key watch item. It is a Maharatna PSU with the government as majority owner.

India's dominant manufacturer of thermal power plant equipment with the majority share of installed coal-based capacity.
